To remember edmonton i will take a mountain of dirty black ice the kind that skins children's knuckles.
And: a a tim hortons roll up the rim cup to remember that i have the bad luck
.
and: i will take the dismembered pigeon that has been in the northeast stairwell of the grandin lrt station.
and: a photograph of the skyline so in later years we can remember how short our buildings were.are.were. are
or: i will take a minute to look at people's shoes
and: i will take a pocket sized OED becuase edmonton has only ever been a site of words and reading
and: i will take a chair to sit on because edmonton has only ever been a site of waiting and idleness
and
i will take note to not go back to West Edmonton Mall
and: i will take a ride on that riverboat
and i will take a pair of sunglasses and some sunscreen and a hat.
let me try to get some optimism flowing, my goodness, writing this 12 page paper on macaulay culkin just has me down in teh dumps for the past week or so. i probably cant watch home alone anymore without thinking that "the film uses three stooges comedy and loads the child with sadistic potency in the make believe layering of fun that allows us to enjoy the erotic formulations without beginning to acknowledge them" (Kincaid 8).... and that is the biggest tragedy of all, becuase i love that movie. but anyways,
really things that im going from edmonton to remember it, becuase im moving away may 1st, is probably just my school books becuase they were expensive and will be good reference decorations and my sketchbooks becuase what better way to remember a place than having images that remind you of specific moments and times of fun or not fun had in edmonton, right?
to document edmonton, hmmmm..... i'll take my friend's phone numbers becuase really edmonton as i know it only exists in the relationships i had here, by the time i return is will be a different city, obviously. but, i'll probably put things like a starlite room ticket stub, and a metro theater ticket stub, and a cookies by george punch card, a movie studio membership punch card thing, and a funny political cartoon or something.
